Sullins Electronics and Bisco Industries Ink Distribution Agreement

Sullins Electronics Develops Bi-Level Edgecard Connector for Heavy-Duty Applications

Announced today by Sullins Electronics, a world leader in the design and manufacture of connectors and interconnect systems, is the availability of the company’s proprietary bi-level series of right angle edgecard connectors. Engineered for heavy-duty applications, the series uniquely provides double the contact points in half the space, while withstanding continual 150o C temperature. Joining Sullins’ extensive offering of edgecards, headers, 2 mm Hard Metric (HM), and CompactPCITM connectors, these first-of-its-kind connectors are made of a high-density dielectric material enabling them to boast a -65o C to +150o C operating temperature range. They also notably feature both primary and secondary engagement contact areas, with the secondary area recessed in the card slot. Specifically engineered for heavy-duty applications, the series provides double the contact points in half the space while withstanding continual 150o C temperature. Joining Sullins’ extensive offering of edgecards, headers, 2 mm Hard Metric (HM), and CompactPCITM connectors, these new patented (U. S. Patent No. US 6,790,054 B1) connectors are made of a high-density dielectric material enabling them to boast a -65o C to +150o C operating temperature range. They notably feature both primary and secondary engagement contact areas, with the secondary area recessed in the card slot. Moreover, their 0.078″ (1.98 mm) contact centerline spacing results in four rows at 0.156″ (3.96 mm) spacing. Sullins & the RoHS Initiative

San Marcos, CA-September 1, 2004-
Effective July 1st, 2006 the EU Directive 2002/95/EC titled RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) goes into effect. Article 4, section 1 of this directive lists certain substances that will be banned in the use of electrical, and electronic equipment. These substances are:

  1. Lead (Pb)
  2. Mercury (Hg)
  3. Cadmium (Cd)
  4. Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+)
  5. Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
  6. Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)

Lead is the only one of the above that is in Sullins Electronics’ components. The Lead is used in the plating, which is 90% tin and 10% Lead.
