Sullins Electronics, Corp., a world leader in the design and manufacture of connectors and interconnect systems, today released the MBB Series of make-before-break edgecard connectors engineered for employment where special contacts are required to avoid signal interruption during mating and un-mating. Specifically optimized for a broad range of demanding board-to-board applications, these 0.100″ (2.54 mm) contact centerline connectors offer the same superior electrical and physical characteristics as each of Sullins’ extended lines of edgecards, headers, 2 mm Hard Metric (HM), and CompactPCITM connectors. Providing the utmost in design flexibility and functionality, the new series is comprised of components in vertical mount, extender card, and right angle bend configurations for today’s advanced daughtercards measuring 0.062″ +/- 0.008″. Further, as contacts are mass terminated when placed onto the printed circuit board, OEMs are able to accelerate their products’ time-to-market, as well as reduce throughput costs.
Recognized under the Component Program of UL, the dual readout connectors are ideally suited for board-to-board applications where rugged, high-performance, high-profile interconnects are indicated. Accordingly, Sullins’ MBB Series is recommended for a wide array of space-critical industrial, commercial and consumer applications requiring the circuit connection of a PCB (motherboard) to daughtercards. Among the varied uses for which they may be confidently specified are in process control, security systems, and computer peripherals. Moreover, these edgecard connectors may be employed in testing equipment as they are available in high-temperature tolerant materials, capable of withstanding continual, 125o C heat.
Accommodating 0.100″ C-C x 0.150″ (2.54 mm x 3.81 mm) in right angle version, and 0.100″ C-C x 0.200″ (2.54 mm x 5.08 mm) grid patterns, the MBB Series accepts PCB thickness of 0.54″ to 0.71″ (1.37 mm to 1.80 mm). Connectors are provided standard in PBT or PPS insulator, with selective gold plating, and Dip Solder/Wire Wrap, 0.025″ (0.635 mm) square terminals. Additional specifications include an insulation resistance of 5,000 Megohms minimum at 600VDC potential, and a current rating of 3A. Devices may be ordered with contacts ranging from 2/4 to 50/100 (in single increments). Optional keying, and customization is available.Delivery is from 2 to 3 weeks.
